Word Guess — a Korean word game scored by individual jamo
This is the classic letter-hint word guessing game rebuilt for the Korean alphabet. You guess a two-syllable Korean word within six tries, but instead of scoring whole letters, each syllable is broken into its initial, vowel, and final jamo and scored separately. It suits anyone who enjoys the structure of Hangul and wants to sharpen their vocabulary.
How to use
- Type two complete Korean syllables into the input box and press submit or Enter.
- Each syllable splits into three tiles — initial, vowel, and final — and each is color scored.
- A black tile (✓) means correct position, gray (●) means present elsewhere, light gray means the jamo is absent.
- Combine the clues to reason out the next word and find the answer within six tries.
Features and tips
- Initials are compared only with initials, vowels with vowels, and finals with finals, so watch the batchim hints closely.
- Words are drawn at random from a pool of around 350, so it stays replayable.
- The stats button shows games played, win rate, current streak, max streak, and your guess distribution.
- Your record is stored in the browser and carries over to your next visit.
FAQ
Q. Can the answer be longer than two syllables? A. No. The target is always a two-syllable Korean word. Q. How is a syllable with no final consonant scored? A. The final slot is still compared as a jamo, and two empty finals count as a match. Q. What happens to my stats? A. They live in your browser storage, so clearing your cache or site data resets them.
