NEON BRICK BREAKER — smash bricks under the neon lights

The classic arcade rule — bounce the ball off your paddle until every brick above is gone — wrapped in a neon cyber board with combos and power-ups on top. Every hit flashes the screen, throws off particles, and floats the points you just earned. No install and no sign-up: open the link and play, with mouse and keyboard on desktop or a finger on your phone.

How to play

1. Press PLAY ▶ on the title screen.
2. Slide the paddle with your mouse or finger. The ← → arrow keys and A D work too.
3. Click or press Space to launch the ball.
4. Clear every brick without letting the ball fall past your paddle, and you move on to the next stage.

Eight stages

There are eight stages in all, and the STAGE panel at the top shows where you are. Bricks come in three strengths — the deeper the color, the tougher they are.

• Cyan — breaks in one hit.
• Pink and purple — takes two hits.
• Amber and orange — takes three.
• Grey steel bricks — cannot be broken at all. Lasers don't get through them either, so treat them as walls and plan your angles around them.

Later stages mix tougher bricks and steel into the layout, and clearing the eighth one brings up the ALL CLEAR 🏆 screen.

Building your score with combos

• A brick is worth 70 points for cyan, 90 for pink, and 110 for amber.
• Every brick you break without the ball touching the paddle adds to your combo. Each three steps of combo raises the multiplier by one, up to ×9.
• The combo resets the moment the ball hits your paddle, so a ball that stays up among the bricks is where the big scores come from.
• Clearing a stage pays a bonus of 500 points plus 250 for each life you have left, so protecting your lives pays off at the end.

Six power-ups

Bricks marked with a ★ drop a capsule when broken. Catch it with the paddle to trigger the effect.

• ◉◉ MULTI BALL — splits the ball into several. The fastest way to pile up a combo.
• ↔ WIDE — widens the paddle for 14 seconds.
• ↟ LASER — the paddle fires automatically for 12 seconds. Steel bricks still hold.
• ◷ SLOW-MO — slows the ball for 9 seconds, handy once it has picked up speed.
• ✦ STICKY — the ball sticks to the paddle for 12 seconds, so you can carry it and re-aim.
• ♥ 1UP — one extra life, up to a maximum of six.

Controls

• Move the paddle by dragging with mouse or touch, or with ← → / A D.
• Launch the ball with a click or Space.
• Pause with P or ESC, and the same key resumes.
• The 🔊 button at the top right mutes and unmutes the sound.

Features & tips

• Where the ball lands on the paddle decides the bounce angle. Hit it near an edge for a sharp angle, or dead center to send it straight up.
• The ball speeds up a little with every paddle hit, which makes a SLOW-MO capsule more valuable than it looks in the later stages.
• Tunnel up one side and get the ball above the brick wall: it keeps breaking without returning to the paddle, and the multiplier climbs fast.
• You start with three lives. Lose them all and it is GAME OVER, but your best score stays in your browser for next time.
• Beat your record and the result screen shows NEW RECORD along with the best combo multiplier from that run.

Q. Do I need to install anything or sign up? A. No. Open the link and it plays for free right in your browser.

Q. Is my high score saved? A. Yes, in the browser you play in. It is kept separately on each device and browser, and clearing your browsing data removes it.

Q. A grey brick won't break. A. That is a steel brick and it cannot be destroyed — lasers don't work on it either. Aim around it; the stage still clears with the steel bricks left standing.

Q. Does it work on a phone? A. Yes. Drag across the screen to move the paddle and tap to launch the ball.

Q. What is the best way to score big? A. Combos. The combo breaks as soon as the ball touches your paddle, so getting the ball above the bricks and clearing several in a row beats picking them off one at a time.
